Meet Peter and Mica
After Peter and Mica started dating in 2021 it didn’t take long to realize how much they had in common. They both enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially near water – whether it be at the river, the lake, or the beach. And they both loved sharing meals together, whether it be going out and trying new restaurants or staying in for a cookout. Golf became one of their favorite things to do together – often hitting the driving range or playing a quick nine holes whenever they had the chance.
Now that the couple has been together almost three years, Micah says, “We’ve grown so much, not just as individuals, but also as partners.” She said they’re both excited about what the future holds, from exploring the world side-by-side to eventually starting a family when the time feels right.
The Proposal Details
Micah said it was a typical March Saturday in 2023. The couple went to Case Park in Kansas City to a familiar spot where the two often walk their dog. Mica said everything seemed routine – until she spotted Peter’s sister, Julia, on the other side of the park. And then it hit her – today was the day!
Mica would soon find that her hunch wasn’t wrong. Peter was suddenly down on one knee and proposing marriage. While Peter and and Mica were having their once-in-a-lifetime moment, their dog, Zoey, added a little humorous levity as she just went about doing her usual dog stuff. Although Zoey was not especially tuned-in to what was happening, Mica said it was still perfect to share the special moment with their Zoey. Mica said, “That day was the start of the rest of our lives!”
The Ring Details
According to Mica, when it came to choosing the engagement ring setting, there was no question they were going to Joslin’s. Mica said, “Joslin’s has always been a special place for our family. We’ve trusted them for years to restore and care for our most cherished heirlooms, and their expertise has always left us feeling confident.”
Mica and Peter chose the ring style together. They wanted a design that felt like a reflection of their relationship – beautifully simple and deeply meaningful. Mica was drawn to a classic three-stone setting, including their own center stone, a stone that held deep sentimental value as it had previously belonged to Peter’s mother. For the couple, this center stone served as a symbol of love passed down through generations. Mica opted for an understated wedding band, a band that would complement the engagement ring and capture the essence of how she viewed their special bond: simple, timeless, and full of heart.
Mica went on to share, “The knowledge and warmth of the staff at Joslin’s make every visit there feel special, as if we’re more than just customers. Plus, we love supporting a local, family-operated business that shares our values. Joslin’s is more than a jewelry store, it’s a part of our family’s story.”
The Big Day
Mica and Peter’s wedding was simple, yet filled with meaning and love. They chose to first have a small ceremony at the Johnson County courthouse, surrounded by their families. After exchanging vows and capturing some special moments in photos, the group went to Peter’s childhood home in Overland Park where the family hosted a small and intimate gathering for immediate family and close friends to join in the celebration of the couple’s marriage.
According to Mica, Peter’s mother, Michele “put so much care into every detail, ensuring that everything reflected who we are as a couple.” Mica said one of the most touching aspects of the celebration was being able to have having Mica’s mom, Nette, by their side, having traveled all the way from the Philippines to share in the special occasion.
The couple is now planning a church wedding for the same date next year, filled with even more love, meaning, and joy.
The Joslin’s Experience
According to Mica, “Our experience at Joslin’s was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we began searching for engagement rings and wedding bands, their impressive selection stood out. When we fell in love with a setting that was only available in white gold, they went above and beyond to have it custom-made in yellow gold for us. Later, as we searched for the perfect wedding band, they thoughtfully pulled out options that would not only complement the engagement ring but also look beautiful on its own. Just two days before our wedding, we brought the rings back to Joslin’s, and they polished them to perfection. It was a small detail, but it made the moment even more special.”
